Boston is out with a new survey asking residents which transportation projects and initiatives the city should focus on first. It is part of Boston's first citywide growth plan in 50 years, called Imagine Boston 2030. The survey is divided into four parts:
- Go Local
- Go Crosstown
- Go Regional
- Go Tech
- Respondents are asked to first select one of these overarching focuses (or foci) and, from there, they can drill down into particulars. For instance, one might select "expanded local ferry network" under "Go Crosstown," which asks Bostonians to imagine a city "where traveling across the city doesn't require going into the hub of downtown just to travel out again." Under "Go Local," select "Orange Line extension to Roslindale Square" perhaps? And on and on, with 48 priorities total to choose from. The survey is strictly advisory, but it does give residents a chance for some input—and some venting, too, surely. We have our own thoughts on which transit projects the powers that be should prioritize.
