Real estate listings service RENTCafé is out with a new report on apartment construction in the nation’s largest cities. Turns out Boston is the 15th busiest in 2016 in terms of construction of complexes with at least 50 units.
There are 7,609 apartments in such developments that have come online this year or that will come online before the year is out. These include the apartments in new developments such as the 258-unit Eddy in East Boston and the 160-unit Girard in the South End.
But! As you can see from the chart above, Boston pales against other major U.S. cities in terms of new apartments. Not good, given the perennially high demand and the chronically low supply.
