Well, golly, it might actually happen: Our fair region could end up hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics. The United States Olympic Committee nominated Boston to represent the United States in the international scramble for the Games. And, while said scramble may not be decided until 2017, we figured it was never too early to commence wildly speculating about where events might be held. Actually, this map of 10 would-be sites is not entirely wild: It comes via suggestions from Boston 2024, a partnership of civic and business leaders pushing the city's bid.
One quick note: The group has suggested that rowing competitions would be on the Merrimack River in Lowell because of the narrowness of some Charles River bridge passages; and Gillette Stadium up in Foxborough might end up hosting something called soccer.
