The $14.95M Beacon Hill TH w/ a Shower Like an Apple Store

Tuesday Townhouse is Curbed Boston's weekly look at that most genteel of Hub home life: the townhouse.

Tracy Campion's listing for this 6-BR, 9-BA townhouse in Beacon Hill declares it, "Simply the most outstanding townhouse restoration in Boston!" The contrarian in us wants to say, "Nah, it sucks." But it can't. We can't. The Benjamin Mansion's 8,450 square feet seem cloaked in some sort of inarguable elegance, old-world and yet nouveau at the same time (note in particular the transparent cube of a shower that reminds one of the Apple store on Boylston Street). Plus, it's got eight working fireplaces, three powder rooms, a large elevator servicing all six floors (unlike some elevators in some townhouses also listed by Ms. Campion); two large decks and a garden; a media room; a library; a gym; a view of the Public Garden; deeded parking; and what seems to us an entirely reasonable price tag of $14,950,000.
