There was a tie in the voting yesterday between Back Bay and East Boston as to which neighborhood advances toward the Curbed Boston Cup, our (first) annual award for the Hub neighborhood of the year. So now begins a lightning round! Polls open until noon today. The details again below:
Back Bay has some of the Hub's biggest real estate deals—including November's top Boston condo trade: $4,325,000 at 45 Commonwealth Avenue. The neighborhood also has some of the Hub's biggest real estate development—not least the 47-story, 318-unit addition to Copley Place that will become Boston's tallest residential tower. And! The neighborhood has Tom Brady.
Yeah, well, East Boston has Tom Menino. Or at least the mayor's plans to remake the neighborhood's waterfront as one the most desirable destinations in town, with hundreds of new apartments and ferries to shepherd tenants and owners to and from them. We, in fact, earlier this month crowned East Boston the city's "It" neighborhood and wondered aloud if it was due to become the next Innovation District.
