$5.2M Triplex at 163 Marlborough Rebrands Itself

We once described the 4-BR, 4.5-BA triplex at 163 Marlborough Street as unfolding like the setting of a Henry James novel (or, at the least, an Alan Cumming-introduced Masterpiece Mystery). 'Tis a grand affair, indeed, with 14-foot ceilings; original detailing dating from right before the Civil War; floor-to-ceiling picture windows on three sides; and five stylish fireplaces. It was asking $5.2 million when we wrote about it in November 2011 as one of the 10 priciest sales listings in Back Bay.

Well, now the triplex is back as one of the 10 priciest rental listings in all of Greater Boston: $21,000 a month. The rental listing, which dropped day before yesterday, makes plainly clear the deal: "Wonderful opportunity to live in this 5 Million dollar condo." The rent for the 4,586-square-foot spread includes two deeded parking spaces. You'll need that for guests coming over to watch Masterpiece Mystery.
