Boston's $40K Rental No More: Benjamin Mansion for $13.95M

New, 1 comment

It got us all in a tizzy just three weeks ago, the listing of the dictatorial Benjamin Mansion at 74 Beacon Street for $40,000 a month (plus $40,000 security deposit). Well, what was easily the Hub's priciest rental listing appears to be no more: The 6-BR, 9-BA, 8,450-square-foot bragging right is on the sales market for $13,495,000. Two things. It's not clear whether the manse ever left the sales market, per se—the rental listing may have been merely a wait-and-see while the whole shebang was quietly shopped (it is clear that the MLS entry for the rental is gone). Second, the listing price represents a $1M summer price-chop from the original asking. Either way, everything's still there: the heated lap pool and surrounding deck; the eight working fireplaces; the three powder rooms; the large elevator servicing all six floors; the media room; the library; the gym; the deeded parking. It's just it's all about the Benjamins at the Benjamin.
