Old Gray Street Mare, She Ain't What She Used to Be

The 4-BR, 2-BA Victorian at 23 Gray Street in the upper reaches of the South End has a lot of rustic charm. Just take in its front and back parlors; dark hardwood floors; exposed brick; private garden; and what looks like a screen door between that garden and the kitchen (Any Town, U.S.A.). But charm only gets you so far in this Hub of ours. The 1,959-square-foot spread dating from 1890 saw two price-chops in September, including a $70,000 one on the 29th. It's now down a cool $100K from its original Bastille Day listing of $1,410,000. Still, such chops might very well be merely the prelude to a sale the way things have been going in luxury Boston.
