Boston Home Sales and the Weather; Liberty Wharf Fills Up

New, 1 comment

BOSTON—Redfin divines the housing market based in no small part on the weather: "[I]n January, our agents showed 12% more homes than we did last January. 'Buyers took a very short holiday this year, and due to this crazy winter with almost no snow, the buying season is picking up speed about two months earlier than it did last year,' according to Hannah Driscoll, agent on Redfin’s Boston Metro team. A 9.7% increase in the number of homes for sale in January adds some fuel to the buyers’ fire, and because in real estate supply drives demand, this supports the notion that sales will rebound in the coming months." DOWNTOWN—No vacancy on this waterfront: "Cresset Harborside LLC reached a milestone this week with 100 percent occupancy of Liberty Wharf, the mixed-use project on Boston Harbor that is home to Legal Harborside, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Temazcal Tequila Cantina, and Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill Seaport. The Boston developer signed three leases for the remaining 7,339 square feet of first class office space on the fourth floor." [Biz Journal]

NORTH END—The Eliot School has made a play for two city-owned buildings up for sale: "Today, on the bid deadline for the city’s request for proposal, the Eliot School Family Council is submitting its own formal proposal to move the K-8 public school currently on Charter St. to the properties at 150 North Street and 130-140 Richmond Street."
