No Food Fight: One Bidder for Greenway Market Near City Hall

Remember the market that the state wants to build beside the Rose Kennedy Greenway? The one that would focus on Massachusetts-made food, wine and beer? By the Friday deadline, only one bidder stepped up to the plate—the Boston Public Market Association, a nonprofit backed by Gov. Deval Patrick's administration. So, unless something goes terribly wrong with the association's application, it's their market to lose. They will need to raise millions for renovations to a state-owned building at Hanover and Congress streets, and Massachusetts will pitch in $4 million. The market's scheduled opening date is spring 2013.
