DOWNTOWN—You're older (yes, you are). Your kids are out of the house (hopefully). You want to move to downtown Boston (who doesn't?). You are more likely to buy than to lease, what with the rising rent caused by all these kids today living and working in the city: "According to a recent report from Marcus and Millichap, the outlook for the 2012 Boston rental market is that vacancy rates will reach a 10-year low of 3.5 percent and effective rents will increase 5.8 percent." CAMBRIDGE—Deborah Mason's dance school is looking to move for the sixth time in 37 years to make way for new condos: "For the past 14 years, Mason's school has been in an old two-story cinderblock building between Mass. Ave. and the Linear Path owned by Fawcett Oil. The heating oil company plans to tear down the building to build a parking lot for a planned housing development, according to preliminary plans submitted to the city." [Chronicle]
