Holy God! Salvaged Sanctuary Suggests Six Figures on Beacon

Church Court has its genesis, if you will, in the old Mount Vernon Church, which opened in 1891 at 492 Beacon Street and had closed by 1978. A fire then ripped through the church, leaving behind only its shell and the potential for renewal (almost biblical, huh?). Such salvation came in the way of architectural concern Graham Gund, which designed a seven-story, 42-unit condo development. This particular 2-BR, 2.5-BA condo, on the market for more than two months now, pitches itself as a townhouse with the original church doors as a private entrance. Inside, predictably enough, there are cathedral ceilings. And, by the floorplan, it appears that where the apse and ambulatory were (we were altar boys) is the living room/dining room, the master bedroom and one hell of a walk-in closet. Yours for $899,500.
