The Brookline 6-BR w/ Exquisite Mantels, Psychedelia

This 6-BR, 3.5-BA townhouse on Monmouth Court in Brookline hit the market over the weekend. It caught our eye not for the manorial features—though those are evident enough, including 19th-century detailing, oversize windows, four original mantels (the house dates from 1876), and 11-foot ceilings—but the rather psychedelic painting in the dining room. Check it out. Neat, no? It's been a long while since the townhouse last traded—1991, when grunge and Ace of Base struck an uneasy truce. Back then, it sold for $485,000. Now it's $1,500,000.
