Every Thursday, Curbed Comparisons breaks down what you can get at the same price point in five different* Hub neighborhoods. This week: $1,500,000.
We start in Somerville and by picking our jaws off the floor. This loft in a converted mill unfolds with the sort of open space fit for romantic-comedy backdrops: 3,708 square feet, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a plethora of natural light, hardwood and high ceilings. There's also a private patio and yard as well as a full basement, albeit only partially finished.

Now, let's swing way back to Boston, to the downtown waterfront and this 3-BR, 3.5-BA, 2,400-square-foot condo at 85 East India Row (it's actually two eighth-floor units combined). It's got delectable views and copious natural light, of course, as well as a redone kitchen and a debonair office complete with custom molding. Park is for rent, though, not included in the price.
__
Up to Beacon Hill, and we find this airy 3-BR, 2.5-BA, 1,500-square-foot penthouse in the English High School Building at 65 Anderson Street, site of America's first public high school (circa 1824), with the original Bunsen burners now used to power the kitchen stove (seriously, check us). It comes with central air and a separate storage room; and the furniture you see in the listing is available for purchase.

This is probably the most awesome Hub listing at $1,500,000 right now: a 4-BR, 2-BA, 2,535-square-foot brownstone off Worcester Square in the Hub's No. 1 neighborhood (per you, dear reader). It's got a chef's kitchen, with an adjoining private deck, plus two studies/extra bedrooms/nursery/gym and deeded parking.

We'll end this week in Back Bay, at a redone 2-BR, 2-BA, 1,193-square-foot condo in the Somerset at 416 Commonwealth Avenue. The listing drops the following brand-names to get across the basic idea that everything's been sleekly renovated: "Bamboo cabinets, Ceasarstone counters, Chilewhich wall paper, Mirage hardwood flooring..." You also get access to the private pool and gym. No word on parking, though.
