That TD Garden Tower? It'll Have a Lot More Apartments

New, 2 comments

We told you last week about the gobsmacking $50M deal that TD Garden owner Delaware North cut with the MBTA for the North Station parking garage across from the arena and the thin air above it. It looked like Delaware North, in partnership with prolific apartment-maker AvalonBay, would construct a 375-unit apartment building using the air rights (time to update our Rental Heatmap!). Well, time's have changed.

It turns out, according to plans filed with the city this week, that AvalonBay will build a 500-unit building. And here's the kicker: the building will not be any taller. Instead, the developer plans to cram in more, presumably smaller, apartments (here we go again), and chop the number of parking spaces from 270 to 219. As to whether these apartments will, in fact, be rentals or condos—stay tuned.
