Boston Cemeteries Lively Addition to Housing Prices

Cemeteries might be good for real estate in Boston. So sayeth a new report from our pals at Redfin, which concludes in general that "on average, homes near cemeteries are slightly smaller, but sell for more per square foot."

There are right now 50 homes for sale within 50 feet of a cemetery in the city, according to Redfin, with the median list price of those homes a haunting $711,809 (the median citywide is $449K). Surprisingly, given the sheer number of burial sites in Boston, not to mention the race for home sales lately, it ranks behind Baltimore, Philadelphia and Chicago in the number of homes for sale near one.
