Sold in January, Clarendon Palace Back on the Market

New, 1 comment

At the beginning of 2013, the scrumptious Penthouse 1 at the Clarendon in Back Bay traded for $6,500,000, dictatorial terrace and all (the deal actually closed in July, making it one of the five biggest condo sales of 2013 so far). Someone familiar with the deal described the buyer as "a good, old empty-nester moving from the suburbs to the city." (Who isn't?) That buyer, it looks like, wants to sell.

The 4-BR, 3.5-BA, 3,545-square-foot perch on the 31st floor hit the sales market on Monday through Gibson Sotheby's for $7,995,000. That's way, way above the last asking, before the last deal, of $7,100,000. The spread took no more than two months to trade at that amount (though only after $600K was knocked off the price). What of this go-round? Stay tuned.
