Is This the Priciest Cambridge Home Sale of 2013?

Could certainly be. A deal for the historic house at 92 Brattle Street just west of Harvard closed right before Halloween.

The 5,631-square-foot, 14-room, seven-fireplace Queen Anne Stick Style was listed through Hammond on June 19 for $5,500,000; two days later the listing was gone. A closed deal then popped up on Oct. 21. The final price: $5,580,000, or $80,000 over the asking. Such is the way in the Hub housing market.

Ninety-two Brattle's closest competition for Priciest Cambridge Home Sale of 2013 is the house at 66 Sparks Street, which in May also sold for a not insignificant sum over its last asking. There are still six weeks left in the year, give or take. Stay tuned.
