The 5,016-square-foot townhouse at 4 West Cedar Street in Beacon Hill last traded for $3,100,000 way back in those prelapsarian days of early 2005. It's been renovated since then and its circa-1850 bones are back on the market.
The townhouse now wants $4,595,000 for its five bedrooms; five bathrooms (three full); mahogany library; full-floor master suite; home office; and six fireplaces (wouldn't one of those be just grand right about now?). Whether it gets the beefed-up tag is anyone's guess, though there is some nearby precedent that suggests maybe not: The townhouse at 8 West Cedar went over the summer for $150,000 below its asking. Still, it went for $5,350,000. So.
