KENDALL SQUARE—Baby steps, folks: "The residential tower promised for Kendall Square three times by developer Boston Properties – most recently in exchange for taking away 42 percent of a rooftop garden – comes before the City Council on Monday for a step that is small but crucial: the sale of a 20-foot-wide slab of sidewalk that makes possible a 200,000-square-foot apartment building." SOUTH BOSTON—The conversion of St. Augustine's has taken a big leap forward: "The $12.5-million proposal for the church calls for converting the structure into a residential building for 29 condominium units and 27 underground parking spaces. Four of the units will be affordable. Although the church will be preserved, dormers will be added to the structure to allow for more residential space." [Boston.com]
