HUB-WIDE—The 2013 Eater Awards have been announced for Boston and beyond. Play yourself a virtual drumroll and then see who won for Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Bartender of the Year, Food Truck of the Year, So Hot Right Now, and Stone Cold Stunner. The winners each receive a can of Italian peeled tomatoes emblazoned with their name to cherish forever — or cook.

HUB-WIDE—Because not everyone remembers to defrost the turkey early enough, here's a growing list of restaurants that will be open in the Boston area on Thanksgiving, many of which are serving special holiday meals. The list will be updated periodically until next Wednesday afternoon.

DOWNTOWN—Highball Lounge opened in the Nine Zero Hotel this week and seems to be aiming for a fun mix of swanky and relaxed. There are board games, there are martinis with rubber duckies, and there are comforting snacks like tater tot nachos and Korean fried chicken nuggets. Ken Oringer collaborated on the project.

BROOKLINE—Michael's Deli has been a sandwich staple for more than a quarter of a century, but hungry diners had to contend with the notoriously gruff Michael to get their pastrami fix. Steve Peljovich bought the business last year and chatted with Eater about the transition, revamping the deli's image, "krazy knishes," and more.
