Dictatorial 78 Beacon Street Lands a Buyer

New, 2 comments

We should've known: The fabtabulous townhouse at 78 Beacon Street chopped its price by a cool million in September, to $9,750,000 for its six bedrooms; eight bathrooms; au pair suite; roof deck and walk-out balcony; 11 fireplaces; three parking spaces; and a delicious-looking kitchen. That cut was mere prelude to what looks like a deal.

We don't know the closing price, of course, only that a buyer has been found for the 7,878-square-foot spread, which, recall, hit the sales market on the same July 2012 day as the equally mad-crazy 130 Commonwealth Avenue. Incidentally, 78 Beacon has not traded on the open market since way back in June 1992, when it went for $820,000—or roughly $1,300,000 in current dollars June 2008, when it traded for $6,325,000.
