End of days! A reader emails the always discreet Curbed Boston Tipline to tell us that The Kensington is amongst the growing number of Boston apartment complexes offering freebies. Has the notoriously landlord-friendly Boston apartment market finally turned toward tenants? Will Sam and Diane ever get together? It's the 1980s all over again! Or something like it. Maybe.
The Kensington's offer, sent to our tipster in an email dated Oct. 30, reads thus:
Right now, we are offering an incentive on new leases that move in before 12/30/13:
ONE & 1/2 MONTHS FREE on all one year leases*
TWO MONTHS FREE on all two year leases* The asterisks lead to standard disclaimers, including the stipulation that tenants must move in by Dec. 30 if they want the free rent. Not a bad deal, we'd say: Recall that the 27-story, 381-unit luxury tower opened in October with 1-BRs asking $3,100 and 2-BRs asking a head-spinning $6,800-plus. Ye gods! That's some cabbage.
