Dig This Little Pink House in Newton

There's a lot of things retro about this 2,745-square-foot split-level off Wendell Road in Newton: the Serpico-era Cadillac in the garage; the Mad Men-esque run of liquor along the wet bar; the art deco bar stools that just scream, "She gets too hungry for dinner at eight..."

But what really leaps out at the jaded eye is the pink—in the kitchen; the bathroom; and, especially, in the bedroom (note in particular the pink wall-padding behind the pink bed). It's all either shamelessly garish or defiantly endearing, depending on your tastes (and some people really dig pink bathrooms). The house, which—surprise—dates from 1956, has been on the market for barely a week and wants $799,000.
