Quarter-Mill Cut at Regal Ritz Palace in the Sky

This scrumptiously combined corner unit at the Ritz-Carlton was once asking $5,750,000 for its three bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, 4,200 square feet, and dictatorial views of the Public Garden. Now it's asking a lot less.

The 32nd-floor spread, which comes with three garaged parking spaces, apparently belongs to Bill Bain, the founder of Bain & Co. (and a founder of the spinoff Bain Capital, which was once headed by Mitt Romney, whom Bain knew from the Boston Consulting Group). He put the condo on the market nearly two and a half years ago, which might explain the $255,000 price-chop to $5,495,000. Will Bain get it? The Ritz is certainly getting some mad-high numbers of late.
