Another Shoot in Allston's Green District

Last week, we took you for the first time inside The Element complex on Brainerd Road, part of a two-block area being developed by the Mount Vernon Company and dubbed the "Green District" of Allston. The Element, where rents range from studios for $1,750 to one-bedrooms for $1,950 to two-bedrooms for $2,450 (and where all 100 units have been leased since leasing started in July 2012), is the first shoot in this Green District.

Leasing for The Edge, the second of what will be three complexes off Brainerd, starts April 1 for move-in beginning Aug. 1. Studios and 1-BRs at The Edge start at $2,000 a month; 2-BRs with one bath start at $2,600; and 2-BRs, 2-BAs at $3,000. The complex will, as you would expect, bleed green, too: stations for charging electric cars; solar roof panels; Energy Star appliances; Icynene soy-based insulation (duh); and a "Green Tenant Declaration," which binds tenants to things like recycling, watching energy/water use, and taking the T as often as possible. And! It has a different kind of green to boot: a putting green. That is all.
