Versailles Knockoff in Milton Knocks Off Beaucoup Bucks

New, 1 comment

Back in February, we clued you in on 10 real estate whales near Boston proper ('cause that's just the kind of people we are). These were, for the most part, the most expensive homes on the market in their respective towns and cities, and all were gobsmacking.

Le Petit Trianon was hands-down the most opulent of the bunch: Named for a chateau on the grounds of the French palace Versailles (literal meaning: little chateau), the 10,000-square-foot-plus main manse has 23 rooms, including nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms (two halves), and 11 fireplaces. The nearly 12-acre estate also includes a carriage house of more than 6,000 square feet; garage parking for six; a tennis court (oath-taking, anyone?); and a Grecian pool that runs to 40 feet. It's been on the market through Campion & Company since November 2012, when it was listed for $4,950,000. The price has been chopped by a cool mill to $3,950,000. Le Petit Trianon last traded way back in July 1996 for $2,350,000. Whichever way, a lot of euros.
