Chestnut Street TH w/ 'Luscious Garden' Loses Lots of Its Green

The gorgeous 6-BR, 5-BA, 5,342-square-foot townhouse at 44A Chestnut Street hit the market in September 2012 for $4,995,000, promising not only tall French doors and a standalone 1-BR but "one of the most luscious gardens in Boston."

Said garden reference remains in the Coldwell Banker listing six months later, but another sort of green has, in fact, withered: $245,000 from the asking price. The townhouse, which dates from 1900 and last traded in April 2008 for $3,480,000, is as of Monday asking $4,750,000. That's still a sizable sum, to say the least, but, then again, Chestnut Street, is known for sizable sums these days.
