Earlier this spring (and it is spring, remember) Unit 1 at 3 Commonwealth Avenue found a buyer with a price tag of $7,995,000. If the 3-BR, 4.5-BA spread goes for anywhere near that tag (and there's every market indication that it will), it will represent the biggest condo deal in Boston so far this year. That's impressive enough for one address.
Well, now Unit 2 at 3 Commonwealth has hit the market for $6,495,000. The 2-BR, 2.5-BA, 2,571-square-foot condo, listed by Coldwell Banker, last traded for $4,950,000 in May 2007. Like its neighbor in No. 1, it's got views of the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and the Public Garden as well as a the distinction of being in a building that once housed the French consulate. There are two garaged parking spaces as part of the price and a private terrace. Is it enough to catapult No. 2 among the year's biggest deals? Stay tuned.
