William Weld's Old Cambridge Manse Goes for $2M Off!

We told you a month ago that Massachusetts' de facto Governor's Mansion for much of the 1990s had a buyer.

The 8-BR, 4.5-BA, 6,755-square-foot manse at 28 Fayerweather Street was first listed in September 2011 by Weld's ex-wife Susan Roosevelt (yes, of those Roosevelts). For a time, it was the only listing in Cambridge for more than $5,000,000. But then it underwent four price-chops in the next year-plus, down to $3,800,000, where it started the new year listed by Hammond Real Estate.

According to public records (which you can search, too!), it traded for $3,500,000 in a deal that closed April 24. For those scoring at home, that's a cool $2,000,000 off the original asking. Still, it's a lot more than the $150,000 the one-time couople paid for the place back in 1976.
