Hub Casino Field Narrows; Record-Low Crime in Cambridge

HUB-WIDE—The field for eastern Mass.' sole casino-resort license has thinned a bit, with a partner in the Milford effort exiting: "The Gaming Commission is now left to choose between Suffolk Downs and Richard Fields in the Revere/East Boston nexus, Everett and Steven Wynn and his investment group and Milford and the Foxwoods businesspeople." CAMBRIDGE—The city's crime rate is at its lowest since records have been kept: "Serious crime in Cambridge decreased by 3 percent last year, to 3,478 crimes, down 89 from the previous low of 3,567 crimes recorded in 2011. The number of crimes reported last year represents the lowest total of index crimes reported to the FBI since Congress enacted the Omnibus Crime Control Act in 1968." [Day]
