First Fenway Hotel in Decades and a Four-Star for Trinity Place

There's a hotel-building boom going on in the Hub, and, as part of Hotels Week 2013, we thought we'd start running down some of the vitals on these many, many inns under construction. The first two up: a Marriott near celebrated beer garden Fenway Park and a four-star number a stone's throw from Copley Square.

There is a lot of development going on in Fenway, including around the ballpark of the same name. This six-story, 175-room Marriott Residence Inn at 121 Brookline Avenue, which is expected to open before the end of the year, is particularly notable: It's the area's first new hotel in decades.

Over at 40 Trinity Place, the Boston Common Hotel and Conference Center will likely be redeveloped into a 33-story building with both hotel rooms and luxury condos. The four-star hotel portion would have 220 rooms as well as conference rooms and a fitness center. The redevelopment also allows for expansion of the University Club. Announced in the fall of 2012, the project is still under review by the city.
