Brookline's Gobsmacking Balemor Estate Goes

The 2.1-acre estate a 9,715-square-foot manse had been asking $8,900,000 at the start of the year.

The price was chopped by $500,000 in late January to a mere $8,400,000. Now, in what is easily the biggest sale in Brookline so far this year, the Jazz Age spread has traded for a cool $7,000,000 in a deal that closed Friday.

What does the new owner get for that? Four levels with at least six bedrooms and 11 bathrooms of varying size; servants quarters on the top level if so inclined; a spa with spa garden; tons of storage; a library off the great room (not to be confused with the club room); formal gardens; and a wine cellar next to the laundry. Listed by Allison Mazer at Gibson Sotheby's, the Balemor last traded in July 2007 for $3,525,500.
