Newton's Priciest New Listing Has a 'Piece de Resistance'

New, 1 comment

Do you? Hint: It's in the gallery above.
The Historic Homes listing for this 5,010-square-foot mansion at 59 Hyde Avenue in Newton goes on and on about its high-beamed ceilings; leaded-glass windows and doors; and spacious foyer "with gracefully crafted staircase." And then it drops what it calls the piece de resistance: the private pool surrounded by English-style gardens and near the three-car garage. The whole shebang just hit the market for $3,895,000, making it the priciest new listing in Newton, but only the sixth-priciest overall. The next one up? Thirty Hyde Avenue down the street, asking $3,999,000. It has seven bedrooms; 59 Hyde has but five.
