51 Chestnut Cracks: Townhouse Plunges Below $5M

The 4,774-square-foot townhouse at 51 Chestnut Street has been on the sales market since, like, forever—October 2012, which is a long time in the Boston housing market.

The 6-BR, 5-BA Federal-style number, with private courtyard and deeded parking, was renovated by its seller and is listed by the formidable Tracy Campion. Still, it's had to hack its price by quite a bit since hitting the market more than a year and a half ago: first by $625,000 in March and now by $251,000 this past Friday. The current asking? $4,999,000. It last traded, pre-renovation, in January 2011 for $1,240,000. Go.
