Somerville's Very Own Mother of All Over-Asks

New, 8 comments

Our David Bates has written about those Greater Boston listings that go for well over their asking prices—and by well over he means hundreds of thousands over, if not a million-plus. Most of these have been in Boston, Brookline or Cambridge.

The 5-BR, 3.5-BA single-family at 44 Rogers Street in Somerville is that city's mother of all over-asks. The 2,349-square-foot house with a two-car garage slipped on to the market in May for $961,000 through RE/Max Destiny; and then exited the market barely a month later, closing in early July for $1,051,000. That's $90,000 over the asking price. Well done, Somerville.
