East Somerville Wants Cafes, Like, Now; More!

EAST SOMERVILLE—It's not entirely clear how many apartments there will be: "The proposal, at 90 Washington Street, would be next to Cobble Hill Apartments, an elderly housing community in East Somerville. Developers split off a parcel of land from the Cobble Hill Apartments site for the new proposal. A Somerville Planning Board report says there are no plans to redevelop the senior housing complex." EAST SOMERVILLE—Residents spoke their piece about a master plan for the area: "'East Somerville needs more people in its commercial corridors who will be out at night,' said Cecily Miller as she wrote 'people living / office space' on a photo of single-story storefronts. 'With the highway and train yards, we end up with empty neighborhoods? If we want cafes, we need people living there.'" [Journal]
