With all the construction happening around the Fenway area, be prepared for another massive project planned for the developing area. A massive expansion for Landmark Center is planned to be filed with the city by Friday.
Developer Steve Samuels wants to demolish the existing parking garage to construct several new towers that will house 550 residences, a 75,000 Wegman's grocery store, and 125,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and offices. Some additional parking will be added underground. He bought 1.5 million-square-foot Landmark Center in 2010 for $530 million with the intention to expand it.
Samuels and his firm, Samuels & Associates are no strangers to the Fenway neighborhood. In fact, they have made themselves quite at home. His other neighborhood projects include the Trilogy on the corner Boylston and Brookline Ave, huge retail and apartment complex. 1330 Boylston Street is another large apartment and restaurant complex that has recently been completed. Currently, another complex is going up nearby that will house a Target, offices, and more residences. Whew, but that's not all. In addition to the plans for Landmark Center, he recently got approval from the city for a 22-story glass apartment tower across from Landmark Center, simply called The Point. - Brenda Phan
