Developer Millennium Partners has set a date for the official groundbreaking for the mother of all recent Boston towers. Recall that the original June 4 date for the Millennium Tower groundbreaking was postponed because Mayor Tom Menino, a tower (towering?) champion, was in the hospital.
Hizzoner is out and about again, and Millennium Partners has blasted an invite listing Sept. 17 as the new groundbreaking date for the 56-story Millennium Tower and the adjoining Burnham Building, which is being refurbished as part of the mega-development at the old Filene's site. The invite asks that you "please be there as we build a new history for Downtown Crossing." And we shall be.
