The Walter Baker & Company chocolate factory shut down in 1969, after more than two centuries in one iteration or another churning out chocolate from its spot in Dorchester. Within a generation, it became a trio of buildings enwombing lofty apartments and condos.
A deal is pending for a 2,184-square-foot Baker Chocolate Factory duplex with two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and enough exposed brick and crown molding to last an architectural fetishist a lifetime (plus: three parking spaces). The last listing price, through Michael Pallares at Coldwell Banker, was $612,750. Stay tuned.
