Brookline Manse Loves Itself Some Ex-Red Sox

The 4,932-square-foot house at 285 Goddard Avenue in Brookline hit the sales market a few days ago for $2,150,000. It's impressive enough, sitting on more than a half-acre of land and including 12-foot ceilings and big, bold windows throughout. But here's what really caught our fancy: The Hammond listing says the house was "custom-designed for the Lars Anderson family with views of the park that bears their name."

Thing is Lars Anderson was a southpaw who played for the Red Sox from 2010 through 2012. Larz Anderson was the member of a prominent family which bequeathed a lot of land to the public. Either way. The 6-BR house last traded for $1,795,000 in June 2010, around the time Lars with an "s" signed with the Sox.
