The rendering above is of the base of the Salesforce Tower planned for downtown San Francisco. When it opens in 2016, the 1,070-foot building will be the tallest in the nation west of the Mississippi River. It will also be the latest design feather in the cap of architectural legend Cesar Pelli.
This rendering is of the base of the One Congress office tower proposed as part of the mammoth Government Center Garage redevelopment. It would be 528 feet and would also be designed by Pelli. While it's certainly a bold statement for the Boston skyline, it's nothing particularly groundbreaking for its architect. Further examples of Pelli's curvy, glassy work through here.
