First New East Boston Waterfront Project in Decades Opens

New, 1 comment

Today's the big ribbon-cutting for the long-time-coming inaugural phase of Portside at East Pier, the first new development on the East Boston waterfront in decades. (How many decades? No one's quite sure.) It's yet another sign of Eastie's evolving real estate reality.

What developers Roseland and Massport are calling Building 7 is five stories and contains 176 apartments, including six extended-stay units, as well as 3,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 192 parking spaces. It also contains one heckuva deal for prospective tenants: Up to three months of free rent on select apartments with 15- to 18-month leases. Building 7 will be joined soon enough by two other buildings on the waterfront to create a grand total of 550 apartments and 70,000 square feet of retail space. Stay tuned.
