We shall be handing out Curbed Boston Awards through New Year's Eve, honoring the best, the brightest, the worst and the dimmest in Boston-area real estate, development and design. First up is Coolest Rendering of the Year. There were plenty of contenders (and we have the runner-up after the jump); but the far-and-away coolest was the above simulation of the mighty, mighty Green Line extension through Somerville into Medford. MassDOT posted it to YouTube in early March. Ride along.

Runner-up for Coolest Rendering of the Year is the above of the under-construction Millennium Tower. You know that puppy: The spire that gave us the $37,500,000 penthouse listing. Sky high, indeed.
