Over-the-Top 6 Arlington Street Duplex Goes for Under Asking

This 2,082-square-foot duplex at 6 Arlington Street in Back Bay went for under its asking price, but the final tag was more than enough to make its sale one of the biggest closes of 2014 in Boston so far.

The scrumptiously apportioned 3-BR, 3.5-BA, with chef's kitchen and an upper floor that's all master suite, last traded in December 2008 for $2,492,299. It hit the sales market in September of last year through Campion & Co. for $3,200,000. Reasonable enough for the edge of the Public Garden: $1,500 a square foot, give or take. It traded, though, at $3,125,000, bucking one of the wider trends in Boston condos.
