AVA Theater District's Glass Curtain Coming Along

A reader tweets the above photo at us of the construction of AVA Theater District (a.k.a. 45 Stuart Street) next to Jacob Wirth. The 500,000-square-foot apartment tower reaching as high as 30 floors appears to be progressing nicely (despite a serious construction accident a month ago). As you can see, the glass curtain that will sheath the complex's first five floors facing Stuart is well on its way.

AVA Theater District is slated to have 398 studios, 1-BRs and 2-BRs as well as a five-story, 198-space parking garage when it's finished next year (it's that parking garage that the glass curtain will hide). Developer AvalonBay, the same concern behind the Avalon Exeter at 77 Exeter Street, is already gearing the building toward "the Gen Y 24/7 lifestyle" as it tries "to attract the young, urban, social lifestyles of today's workforce." If the Avalon Exeter's rents are any indication, the tenants of AVA Theater District will, indeed, have to be in the workforce. At the very least.
