Christian Science Plaza: the Waiting Is the Hardest Part

New, 2 comments

With so much understandable hullabaloo about Millennium Tower not only getting under way but starting pre-sales as well, it's easy to forget a fellow Boston spire that's supposed to make the 625-foot Millennium look like your little cousin who used to tag along to everything: the a 691-foot, 58-story tower at the Christian Science Plaza.

The tower is slated to have 255 apartments, 170 condos and about 250 hotel rooms. It's part of a 950,000-square-foot redevelopment scheme at the plaza that also includes another tower, this one a mere 25 stories. The Boston Redevelopment Authority O.K.'d the whole shebang on Sept. 12, 2013, and there had been talk throughout last year that construction could start before Jan. 1.

It's almost the fifth month of 2014, and construction has not started. We've got an email out to Carpenter & Co., the Cambridge-based developer charged with building the tower and its companions. If you, dear reader, have any news of your own, do drop us an email on the always-discreet Curbed Boston Tipline. Stay tuned.
