Cambridge's 85 Sparks: No Record, But Nothing to Sneeze At

New, 2 comments

Back in December we speculated brashly over whether the 5,901-square-foot Colonial at 85 Sparks Street would set a modern Cambridge sales record. The idea didn't seem all that madcap. Cambridge is famous for its over-asks. And the 5-BR manse on nearly a half-acre of West Cambridge was asking a muscular $7,250,000. Add a rather huge over-ask, one like this maybe, and we're talking eight figures.

A deal for 85 Sparks closed Tuesday for $6,500,000—or $750K under the original and only asking. Still, that places the house in rather good stead to be Cambridge's priciest sale of 2014 at least.
