Renting in the North End This Summer on $2,000 or Less

You know it's not going to be cheap to rent in the North End. In one of Boston's most desirable neighborhoods, all nestled in history and along the waterfront, $2,000 gets you pretty much a 1-BR or smaller. Though, as we found in surveying what's out there at the start of this mighty summer, within those tight margins is a lot of diversity. How about a private roof deck? Or central air? Or a washer/dryer included? How about, indeed.

Let's start at 19 Fleet Street. There Unit 4, a 1-BR, 1-BA, is renting for $2,000 even. But! Tenants also pay for heat and hot water at the 700-square-foot, top-floor unit. Plus side: There's a private roof deck.

Unit 205 at 12 Greenough Lane comes with central air. The 1-BR, 1-BA also wants $2,000.

Unit 3F at 57 Salem Street comes with washer/dryer. A 1-BR, 1-BA, 606-square-foot condo that was just listed, it wants $1,900 a month.

This second-floor, 553-square-foot studio at the Mariner condo at 300 Commercial Street also just dropped. And Unit 202 also wants $1,900.

Unit 5 at 92 Prince Street is the cheapest apartment for rent right this very second in the North End: $1,750 for the 1-BR, 1-BA, 600-square-footer.
