In Quincy, Call for Carving 400 Homes Out of Shuttered School

New, 3 comments

About a 10-minute walk from the Wollaston T stop sits the old Central Middle School at 1022 Hancock Street in grand Boston-alternative Quincy. The city recently received five bids to redevelop the three-story school into some sort of residential complex.

Thomas Grillo of the Boston Business Journal has details on the five bids. Four propose maintaining at least the building's exterior and developing apartments or condos inside. One, however, calls for demolishing the building, vacant since last October, and replacing it with two 13-story residential towers with as many 400 residential units. The rest are talking about 38 units, 54 units, etc., not 400. Stay tuned.
